Thursday With Sunita

 
  1. Come study with one of the most beloved teachers in the harp world.


  1. The first half of the day is an extended version of Sunita’s popular workshops, Art of the Arpeggio I and II:


  1. Learn to accompany melodies with new creative arpeggio patterns.


  1. Use the colors of the strings to “see”  patterns for new shapes and sounds.


  1. Mix up the order of finger patterns in arpeggios to create and ebb and flow of energy.


  1. Learn to use suspended chords, 9th chords, and passing tones for beauty, tension, and resolution.


  1. Practice sculpting the volume of phrases to put a three- dimensional glow on the music.


  1. Learn new styles of arpeggios that can stand alone as introductions, interludes, and free-flowing improvisation.

Experienced Beginner to Advanced

After lunch, using the skills from the pre-lunch sessions, the class will focus on:


  1. Improvising in a slow and therapeutic style. 


  1. Flowing between two chords to create interludes


  1. Improvising over longer chord patterns and a descending bass line.


  1. Musicality in controlling the timing of the notes and line of the phrase. 


  1. Listening to the line of music and breathing.


  1. Simplicity and beautiful tone.


  1. Thinking “groups of notes” to develop speed


  1. Don’t let speed scare you!  It’s doable - methods for developing faster accuracy for any level.
