Double Strung Harp Models

NEW:  LORALEA 29  F-F

Below is info on the six different harp models, Lorraine, Loralea, Eve, Ena, plus Brea and Brittany.  Happy harping! Carolyn Deal

The Lorraine and Loralea are the same body, but Loralea is strung F-F.  Lorraine is G-G.  They are easy on my hands; medium light string tension.  Loralea is SLIGHTLY lighter tension than Lorraine.

Everyone is blown away with the sound. It’s lush, and so easy to sound FABULOUS on these harps.  The doubling effect gives the illusion of greatness.  You can hear this harp on my YouTube tutorials.

Detachable base is quick to remove.  And it comes in 6” or 8” heights.

Not tippy at all, very solid-footed.  Safe around my grand daughter and dog.

Light to carry to my car, easy fit because base detaches.

Gothic shape.   I love this shape and you don't see it often.

(It also makes the bass strings long, which causes a stunning sound.)

Easy on my body.  It’s a floor harp; tilts back lightly on shoulder.

Comfortable to reach around because it is narrow at the top.

Perfect, perfect range.  That low octave is WOW.  Going any lower than the low G or F would be overkill for the complex overtones of the double.  That’s just my opinion.  To me, the Lorraine G-G and Loralea F-F are the perfect double harps; their range achieves everything while keeping the harp from being bulky or heavy.

Camac levers are available on all of these doubles.  There are no other doubles on the market that offer this.

Easy to learn.  Free tutorials on line.  (I wonder who makes those?)  Go to YouTube and search “Double Strung Harp Tutorial.”

You can afford these harps:

$2262 to $3600, depending on levers.

Free Perks:

  1. I give you one free Skype lesson or private lesson at my home.

  1. Two L-shaped tuning wrenches that are ergonomic.  (You get a T-shaped wrench with the harp too; it’s good to have both kinds.)

  1. Also you can have in-person or Skype lessons at 30% off for a year.  (So $30 for you, or $15 for 30 minutes).

  1. I include my “Lady Godiva” book of tunes to use with the G lever.

NEW: LORALEA!  SAME SHAPE

BUT STRUNG F-F

Small but MUCH more “playing power” than normal lap harps – or even 26 string harps. I always thought 22 string lap harps were pretty useless. But it is TOTALLY different when you double the strings. You have three octaves, in each hand. The harp has 44 strings, packed into a little lap-harp size. You simply bring your left hand up an octave to play the four lower notes you would play on a 26 string harp.
And the glittery sound gives you so much more beauty and interest. You can do everything you do on a single strung and over 500 other things. See the tutorials.

The tone is sweet and rich. Look on YouTube at Jo Morrison playing The Ashgrove in a huge church... amazing. Listen with headphones if you can. As with all double strung harps, the doubling effect gives the illusion of greatness and that glittery sound. This harp even sounds great at the top.

I can send MP3’s of Brea vs. Brittany to help you pick your favorite.

Wonderful for therapy; warm creamy tone. These harps and the Ena are warmer in tone than the Eve, very therapeutic. Eve is also therapeutic; warm but in a more glittery way.

For lots of sound examples, see my YouTube video “Brittany Double Strung Lap Harp Demo, and “Brea Double Strung Harp Demo.” Listen with headphones. They are a good sound quality representation. The sound samples on the Stoney End website sound nothing like the harps, so please watch the YouTube demos.

Brea harp! Brittany is strung G-G and Brea is same body, strung F-F. Slightly warmer sound than Brittany. Email me for sound samples. Brea Twelve Joys lever configuration allows you to play in all the keys of Brittany Ten Joys, but you add the Key of F and all it’s modes. And you have that one lower string.

Super fun to take places; ADORABLE. In it’s case, the harp looks like a bowling bag! (Well, a little larger). Take it with you anywhere for “Random Acts of Harping.” It’s a conversation-starter anywhere you go. I love playing outdoors.

You can afford this harp: $1217 to $2361 depending on levers.

Harmonics! Each string vibrates it’s equal “sister” on the next row, so there is a richness you can’t get on a small single strung harp.

Easier to hold ergonomically than other small harps. Small harps are harder to hold than a floor harp (which is stable on the floor and just tips back lightly on the shoulder). But the Brittany and Brea are different, much easier than most small harps.
Much much much more comfortable than a 26-string therapy harp. Because of it’s short profile, Brittany or Brea are both perfectly ergonomic if you place the instrument on a harp bench between your legs (straddle the bench like a horse).

Another option where you don’t need a harp bench:
When you buy this harp from me, I include a pretty lap harp board to match your harp ($35 retail value). You sit on it and put the harp on it between your legs. (You cannot do this with a 26 string single harp because it makes it too high). There is a lip at the front of the board so the harp cannot slip off.

Optional legs that are super. $100 (WAY underpriced) plus $60 shipping (that’s the real shipping cost, so I tell people pretend the legs are $130 and shipping is $30). Photo below. The legs are quickly detachable, make the harp very stable, and it feels as comfortable as a light floor harp! The legs go on Eve, Ena, Brittany, or Brea harps.

Traditional Celtic shape inspired by the Brian Boru historic harp. I love this shape and you don't see it often. See it in my YouTube video “Brittany” Double Strung Harp Demo or “Brea Double Strung Harp Demo” and the photo above.

It’s got a slightly wider string spacing than the Eve; and a little more string tension. That makes it a teensy bit easier to play for a novice since you don’t need to be as “accurate.” Or if you have large hands it’s good. A novice might find it a teensy bit easier to see the strings than on the Eve because the strings are fatter.
But even non-harpers start on either double lap harp and do fine.

Perfect, perfect range. The lowest note on Brittany is a G. It’s a note you use often in the key of C because it’s the dominant of the C scale. On the Brea, lowest note is an F.

Comes in Walnut or Cherry.

Carolyn’s special “Lady Godiva” option. I asked Gary Stone to make this for my customers. Suddenly you can play beautiful Olde English music, Medieval, and some Shakespearean, even Jewish . This configuration has one extra lever: the G above middle C on the right hand. Add $18 for a Loveland or $25 for a Truitt.
All of Suzanne Guldimann’s great lap harp books have some tunes using the right hand G#. For a fully levered harp you already have this string, of course. I also include a free book of tunes I arranged and composed for this.

Easy to learn. Free tutorials on line! (I wonder who makes those?) You can do all the tricks on the tutorials, some tunes exactly as is, and some with your left hand up an octave. Books by Carolyn Deal too. Laurie Riley and Beth Kolle have good books also.

See Prices page for various lever options.

Free Perks:
I give you one free Skype lesson or private lesson at my home.

Two L-shaped tuning wrenches that are ergonomic.  (You get a T-shaped wrench with the harp too; it’s good to have both kinds.)

Also you can have in-person or Skype lessons at 30% off for a year. ($30 for you, or $15 for 30 minutes).

Free Lap Harp Board ($35 retail value).

Brea 22 Double Strung Harp Lap Harp
(44 strings total).
The harp that is stung F-F.
What I LOVE about this harp.

I mentioned it above, but will give it it’s own further description. This treasure of a harp is the Brittany harp body, but strung F-F instead of G-G. Both harps are beautiful and therapeutic.

I can send MP3’s so you can hear the difference:

I think of the Brittany as having a slightly faster vibrato and the Brea more deep feeling. Brittany is warm yet sparkles, Brea is warm and grounds. The low F opens up new possibilities. People who order Brea have a choice of Full levers, Twelve Joys, or Brea Slim, or any customer lever combination.

See Prices page to learn what those combinations are.

I do love the low F and it has a teensy bit lighter tension than Brittany, so my hands which cannot play a “normal” tension can play the Brea. Brittany is a tension lots of people like as well as Brea but for those with hand issues Brea may be better.
